Staff Bios

Karen Trenthem, R.N.,B.S.N

Mrs. Trenthem is a native and lifelong Memphian, who graduated from Evangelical Christian School in 1976. She received her nursing education at The University of Tennessee in Memphis, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1980. She worked at Baptist East Hospital for six years in the Emergency Department before coming to work for Dr.Johnson in 1986.

Karen assists Dr. Johnson in the office and the operating room, and has considerable experience with all aspects of plastic surgery, and is therefore able to answer many questions for you. Many of our female patients enjoy hearing the woman’s perspective on aesthetic surgery from Karen.

Karen is married to Phillip Trenthem, an English teacher in the Shelby County schools. They have two children, Janie and Emily.

DeeAnn Dossett

DeeAnn was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but most of her early years were in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She began her medical career there, doing volunteer work at Methodist Hospital of Oak Ridge. She took 2 ½ years of pre-nursing courses at Harding University, and has considerable experience in the medical field of a practical nature. She has worked in medical offices of general surgeons, internal medicine specialists, hematologists, allergists, and infectious disease specialists.

DeeAnn worked with Dr. Johnson for 14 years at a former office holding positions as medical receptionist, patient insurance coordinator, and front office manager, A/P manager, administrative assistant, HR manager, and Dr. Johnson’s medical assistant. With her considerable experience in medicine, and especially with over 20 years in plastic surgery, she is able to answer many patient questions. DeeAnn is able to coordinate schedules and can facilitate the process from initial appointment to surgery, to maximize patient convenience.

DeeAnn is married and has four boys and one granddaughter.

Joan Casey

Raised in the Boston area, Joan loves working with people and helping them obtain their surgical goals. After she obtained an associate degree at North Shore Community College, she worked for Massachusetts General Hospital at Logan Airport as a medical secretary. She gained valuable experience dealing with patients and the traveling public. During the last 8 years, she has worked exclusively for the plastic surgery field. She has been a patient coordinator for plastic surgeons in Dallas, Texas as well as West Palm Beach, Florida. Assisting patients with the surgery process from the first consultation to scheduling surgery and post operative care, Joan enjoys helping patients through every stage of their care to give them their best experience with plastic surgery.

Joan is married to Buddy who is President of Colgan Airlines. She has two married daughters and four grandchildren.
